You are here: YouTrain / Help with costs / MCITP Programme

Introduction:
The Microsoft IT Professional Apprenticeship offered by YouTrain is a superb programme which includes Microsoft technical training as part of the programme.

YouTrain has been selected by Microsoft as its delivery partner in Scotland for this new initiative. YouTrain is a Microsoft IT Academy, a Microsoft Gold Partner, an SQA Approved Centre, and is approved by E-Skills Sector Skills Council and Skills Development Scotland to offer the programme.

Who it is for:
People already in IT Professional roles, OR being recruited into IT professional roles. There are no particular prerequisite entry requirements, but delegates do need to be capable of completing the programme and committed to doing so.

The Programme Comprises:
• IT Professional Modern Apprenticeship (SVQ Level 3 IT Professional & Core Skills)

• Microsoft Training to Microsoft IT Professional (MCITP) level (varying options available see “Want Technical Skills”)

Format:
• Instructor led training courses with our YouTrain MCT (Microsoft Certified Trainer), in our Stirling Training Centre. Choices of:

MCITP: Server Administrator

  • Windows 7, Configuration
  • Server 2008, Active Directory
  • Server 2008, Network Infrastructure
  • Server 2008, Administration

MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator

  • Windows 7, Configuration
  • Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator

MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician

  • Windows 7, Configuration
  • Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Support Technician

• Approx 5–10 days additional time commitment on agreed dates through the year to build portfolio of evidence. This includes regular meetings (about 1 hour duration) with our Trainer / Assessor at place of work or optional ‘lab days’ here at YouTrain.

• Free software for delegates to further their study at home.

• Microsoft Official online eLearning materials – access to courses corresponding to the instructor led courses chosen.

Duration:
There is some flexibility in the length of the Programme depending on the learner’s experience, work role, commitment. We aim to get people through the programme in no more than a year.

Time Commitment:
Delegates on the Apprenticeship should realise there is a time commitment to on-going learning over the duration of the programme.

For people who are already IT Professionals, this means attending the training courses and also putting work into the building of a digital portfolio.

In the case of employees who are new to IT, we take the programme at a slower pace and offer additional training time with us to help make them more useful more quickly. This is around 10 weeks over the year – but this investment in time for these less experienced people pays dividends, because the extra training time means they become more useful more quickly.

Costs:
The programme is supported by Skills Development Scotland for April 2011 – April 2012, which reduces the costs greatly for applicable candidates. Call Gemma for details on 01786 460531.
